Productivity Hacks of the Uber Successful
And this is how – by embracing these five productivity hacks of uber-successful entrepreneurs and coaches who get more done in less time and with less stress.
1. Creating Rituals & Establishing Habits:
This is the foundation of successfully reaching every one of your goals with ease. For every goal you’ve failed to accomplish, I’ll show you how you failed to create a ritual and make it a habit.
What are rituals and habits?
Well, a ritual/routine or habit is a consistent way of doing something.
Your morning routine may look something like this:
- Wake up
- Brush your teeth
- Head to your office.
If you’re looking to start your business while still in your 9-5, you could include 30 minutes business activity into your morning routine. Between breakfast and heading to work.
Do you see how this can help you get closer to your goal?
You may be in the habit of grabbing a latte and a muffin at Starbucks before you head into the office.
If you’re trying to lose weight, how is that habit going to affect your weight goals?
Creating a ritual and developing habits around your goals ensures your goals become part of your day to day life and not something you get to someday.
You’ll start working your way to your goal without having to actively think about it.
Habits can be both good and bad as shown above, so you’ve got to be careful about the habits you create in your life.
You have got to start to ask yourself how the habits and rituals you have benefited your life. Are they good for you or bad?
If checking your email is part of your morning ritual, then how does that help kick start your day?
If you’ve got Skype turned on while you’re trying to write an article, how much are you truly getting done?
Distractions such as these can turn even your best intentions into hours of wasted time.
Take a good look at all your rituals and habits.
What are you doing that you should not be—or that should be moved to another part of your day?
Take each of your goals and design a ritual around it. Are there any activities that if you make a habit will ensure you reach your goal in record time?
Make your rituals and habits more efficient and you’ll automatically get more done, faster.
2. Mastering Calendar Management:
I use several tools to manage my time, my key tool is my calendar.
I use google keep to create my to-do lists and brain dump stuff there, I use Trello to manage my projects and then I use my google calendar to plug-in when I’m actually going to do the tasks involved in making the projects happen.
Want to know how much time you really have available for that new project your thinking about?
Block off time in your calendar for all your existing projects. Fill in all your client calls, your business admin tasks, time for meals and breaks, outside appointments, and everything else you’re committed to.
What’s left might just shock you. Either pleasantly or not. Either way, it’ll be a reality check into what you are actually doing with your time.
Make it a habit to block time in your calendar for every commitment, and you’ll never again over-promise, over-commit or feel overwhelmed.
3. Letting go & Delegating:
The biggest mistake new entrepreneurs make is trying to do everything themselves.
You don’t have to do everything in your business yourself.
Sure, when you first start out you’ve got to wear many hats, however, there are still aspects you can hire out, even if you’re working with zero budget.
Then you should be prepared to hand off those low-level tasks to someone else as soon as you start to make money in your business.
Hire a VA to create your documents and manage your calendar. They can also help manage your blog and email list.
Turn over your bookkeeping to an accountant. Hire a graphic designer to design your logo and create images for you. Turn over your social media to an expert.
You can find cheap freelancers from the following platforms;
The time you free up will allow you to work on your business instead of in your business—and that will allow you to grow your business faster.
4. Work Hard, Play Harder:
Hustle is the 21st-century entrepreneur’s biggest burden.
The idea that you’ve got to hustle 24/7 in order to build the business you want and have the life you want.
I mean, if all you do is hustle, when are you going to have the time to live?
I mean aren’t we all here to start our businesses, gain some freedom and spend more time to do the things we love and experience life?
You are not a machine. You cannot work all day every day and hope to be at your best all the time.
It’s mandatory to take a day off. Get some rest, chill, relax and do things you enjoy outside your business.
Take a friend out to lunch. Go shopping with your kids. See a movie. Go to the theatre. Do something—anything—other than work.
Not only will you return to the office feeling much more refreshed, but you’ll find yourself more creative, productive and full of new ideas.
Whenever you’re feeling stuck, give yourself a break.
Better yet plan your free time as well as you plan your projects. Block out time every week for regular chill time and every month or so for mini holidays.
5. Learn Focus
I used to wear being a multi-tasker as a badge of honour in my younger days. Now I know the error of my ways.
It is proven that it takes twice as long to get something done when you’re multi-tasking. That’s because your brain has to physically switch between tasks which takes time, an average of 15 minutes.
Yep, you read right, 15 minutes!
Multi-tasking doesn’t work. So, stop doing it.
You cannot efficiently create a new coaching program while you’re simultaneously checking Instagram, and answering the phone.
STOP, Juggling tasks!
It’s just impossible to function like this and produce anything worth being put out into the world.
Instead, opt for focusing on one task at a time. Use your calendar to block time off to complete important tasks, making sure you turn everything else off, to avoid distractions.
That means No phone, no Facebook, no kids or husbands or neighbours or pets demanding “just a minute” of your time. When you’re trying to do something for your business.
Tune everything out except the task at hand, and you’ll find that you get your work done much faster.
